国立大学法人琉球大学ウェルネス研究分野＆ブルーゾーン沖縄研究センターは、国立大学初の観光系学部である観光産業科学部（2018年度より国際地域創造学部に改組）の社会連携の場として学内共用スペースの利用認可を機に、企業の要望や国県自治体の地域振興に関わる共同事業を積極的に受け入れる体制を整え、これまで多くの産官学連携共同研究を果たしてきています（共同／受託研究／寄附金獲得件数 61件；過去６年間、学内第1位）

　こうした研究成果を活かし、健康×医療×福祉×食×農×住×文化×スポーツ×美容×ファッション×アート×環境×IT×観光など、異業種、多職種による融合分野に領域を拡げ、現代社会および次代のニーズを見据えた新しい連携共創のあり方を探索しています。

　従来の枠組みを超えたアライアンスをキーワードに、新産業イノベーションを起こす『プラットホーム』としての社会実験的拠点機能を担うことを目指しています。

The National University Corporation of the Ryukyus Wellness Research Field & Blue Zone Okinawa Research Center has taken the opportunity of the approval for the use of common space on campus as a place for social collaboration of the Faculty of Tourism Industry and Science, the first tourism-related faculty of a national university (reorganized into the Faculty of International Regional Creation from FY2018), to actively accept requests from companies and joint projects related to regional development by national and prefectural governments. We have established a system to proactively accept joint projects related to the regional development of national, prefectural, and municipal governments and requests from companies, and have conducted a large number of joint research projects in collaboration with industry, government, and academia (61 joint/contracted research projects and donations received; ranked first in the university for the past 6 years).

　Utilizing the results of such research, we are expanding the scope of our activities into fusion fields involving different industries and multiple professions, such as health, medicine, welfare, food, agriculture, housing, culture, sports, beauty, fashion, art, environment, IT, and tourism, and exploring new forms of collaboration and co-creation with an eye to the needs of modern society and the next generation.

　With alliances that transcend conventional frameworks as keywords, we aim to serve as a social experimental center that will serve as a “platform” for new industrial innovation.

国内有数の観光地であり、健康保養資源に恵まれた沖縄では、健康、ウェルネスをテーマとした旅の提案・開拓が優位に展開しうる基盤を備えています。島嶼という環境脆弱性は、一方で良質な環境との共生実践フィールドにもなり、地域固有の資源に根差した研究は世界で唯一の研究に通じます。

　琉球大学の研究とんがりとされる「島嶼・海洋」「熱帯・亜熱帯」「琉球・沖縄」「健康・長寿」のいずれにも「ウェルネス資源」という価値を見出し、ツーリズムを掛け合わせることで特色を生み、新しい産業創出、新しい次代のライススタイル価値提案が期待されます。

　日本で唯一のヘルスツーリズム、ウェルネス、ウェルネスツーリズムを産官学連携で取り組む研究開発拠点として、日本およびアジア環太平洋地域「アジア」から発信する新しいウェルネス研究の学際研究・開発拠点、産学連携拠点の形成を進めていきます。

　日本最南端に位置する「アジア・ゲートウェイ」（アジアの玄関口）、国立大学としての果たす役割、本学の基本理念である地域・国際社会への貢献として、地域の自然環境、歴史・生活文化、世界5大長寿地域”ブルーゾーン”、健康長寿、人を含む地域資源を「ウェルネス資源」として掘り起こし、「地方創生」のモデルにも資する新たな視座と方法論を提起するとともに、世界の基幹産業に成長する観光産業、健康医療福祉産業、次世代ヘルスケア・ライフスタイル産業の振興に寄与していきます。

Okinawa is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Japan and is blessed with health and recreational resources, providing a foundation for the development and proposal of health and wellness-themed travel. The vulnerability of the island environment also makes it a field for practicing symbiosis with a quality environment, and research rooted in the unique resources of the region can lead to unique research in the world.

　The University of the Ryukyus is expected to discover the value of “wellness resources” in the “islands and oceans,” “tropics and subtropics,” “Ryukyu and Okinawa,” and “health and longevity” that are the focus of its research, and to create unique features by combining them with tourism to create new industries and propose new rice style values for the next generation.

　As the only research and development center in Japan for health tourism, wellness, and wellness tourism in collaboration with industry, government, and academia, we will promote the formation of an interdisciplinary research and development center for new wellness research and a center for industry-academia collaboration, both in Japan and in the Asian Pacific Rim region of “Asia.

　As an “Asian Gateway” located at the southernmost tip of Japan, the role of a national university, and as a contribution to the local and international community, which is the basic philosophy of the University, the University will promote the development of a new wellness research and development center and a center for industry-academia collaboration from Japan and the Asian Pacific Rim region, “Asia. We will also contribute to the promotion of the tourism industry, the health and medical welfare industry, and the next-generation health care and lifestyle industry, which are growing into key industries in the world.

　研究成果の社会実装、実践テーマのひとつとして、世界5大長寿地域”Blue Zone”(ブルーゾーン)として認知される沖縄の健康と長寿に関する基盤研究、ブルーゾーン×ウェルネスをテーマとした高付加価値型のウェルネス産業研究開発、ウェルネスツーリズム研究開発を多数の企業、自治体等と共同実施していきます。沖縄は全米ベストセラー「The Blue Zones」世界5大長寿地域のひとつに掲げられることから、海外ではすでに数十億ドルともいわれる市場規模のブルーゾーンにまつわるモノ・コト・プレイス市場創出へ産業界、行政からの期待は高まっています。そのための基盤研究、産官学プラットホーム機能を担うためブルーゾーン沖縄研究センター(プロジェクト；Blue Zone Okinawa Research Center)名で各種共同研究・開発を遂行していきます。

As one of the themes for social implementation and practice of research results, we will conduct basic research on health and longevity in Okinawa, which is recognized as one of the five “Blue Zones” of longevity in the world, research and development of high value-added wellness industry and wellness tourism research and development under the theme of Blue Zone x Wellness in collaboration with many companies and local governments. The project will be conducted jointly with a number of companies and local governments. Okinawa is listed as one of the top five longevity regions in the world in the U.S. bestseller “The Blue Zones,” and there are growing expectations from industry and government for the creation of a market for goods, places, and activities related to the Blue Zones, a market that is already worth several billion dollars overseas. The Blue Zone Okinawa Research Center (Project: Blue Zone Okinawa Research Center) will carry out various joint research and development projects in order to perform the basic research and industry-government-academia platform functions for this purpose.

As the gateway to Asia located at the southernmost tip of Japan, the role of a national university and the university’s basic philosophy of contributing to the local and international community is to uncover local resources including the local natural environment, history, lifestyle culture, and health, longevity, and people as “wellness resources” and to propose a new perspective and methodology that will contribute to a model of “regional development”. In addition, we will contribute to the promotion of the tourism industry, the health and medical welfare industry, and the next-generation health care and lifestyle industry, which are considered to be the next key industries.
